The Rapture and the Tribulation

There are different opinions as to when the tribulation will take place and/or if the saints will go through the tribulation. We can stand on the Word of God, but it has to be studied and rightly divided. These are examples of the children of God being caught up, snatched away or raptured:

Enoch walked with God and God took him; he was not on earth anymore (Genesis 5:24). Elijah was translated; a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared….and he was no longer on the earth (2 Kings 2:11). This scripture references to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17.

Before a catastrophic event took place, God spared Noah and his family from His wrath upon the earth (Genesis, chapter 7). This scripture references to the tribulation; God will take His children (the church) out of the earth before the catastrophic events that will occur during the tribulation.

Immediately after the saints meet Christ in the air (1 Corinthians 15:51-54, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.), the Tribulation will begin, and the Holy Spirit’s influence through the church will be removed; then and only then will the anti-christ be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12). Remember the Spirit of God is always present because He is everywhere (Omnipotent) and He is the One Person of the Trinity who has always functioned on the earth without end.

Even though His function for the church ends, He has to be on the earth because that’s the only way people can be born-again. When the Church age ends, the seven-year tribulation begins. During the tribulation, 144, 000 Jews will evangelize the world through the power of the Holy Spirit (Revelation 14:1-7). Jews and Gentiles be born-again, by the witnessing of the 144, 000. During the church age, it was the church who spread the Gospel, now it will be the Jews.

The great tribulation or time of Jacob’s Trouble (Matthew 24:15-31) is not fully understood unless there is a connection in the book of Daniel; Jesus said in Matthew 24:15 – When you see the abomination of desolations, spoken by Daniel, the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoever reads it let him or her understand).

I can understand why so many people say they don’t understand the book of Revelation; without reading the book of Daniel, many parts are disconnected. Let’s just do a simple and brief connection for your understanding. Daniel talks about the tribulation and the time period and why it has to be.

God is dealing with the Nation of Israel, those who didn’t receive Jesus Christ as the Messiah (John 1:11). Since God always had a plan for Israel, He will allow them to go through the Tribulation. The Lord revealed to Daniel in chapters, 2, 7 and 9, the plan for His people, the Jews. Because of their sins, they would be under Gentile rule for 70 weeks.

Here is the Daniel connection: He speaks of the anti-christ in Daniel 11:36-45; even though he is not named. The anti-christ (a man) who is possessed and empowered by Satan, called the dragon is confirmed in Revelation 13:3-15. Daniel talks about the 70 weeks (Daniel 9:24). To simply put it, let’s concentrate on the sixty-ninth week when Christ was crucified; the time-table stopped for the Jews and there is only one week left, which is the seven-year tribulation. The tribulation period is when God is dealing with the Nation of Israel. This is the Daniel and Revelation connection.

The rest of the History:

All nations come to worship Him (Psalm 86:9) connects with Revelation 15:4.

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb… (Isaiah 11:6); this takes place during the 1,000- year Millennium reign (Revelation 20:4).

Satan is bound for a thousand years and after the thousand -year Millennium reign, Satan will be loosed for a season and his time will be up. Satan, his demons and all humans who followed him will be cast into the lake of fire and will be tormented forever (Revelation 20:7-15).
