I Heard Wedding Bells -The Excitement of an Unforgettable Wedding 6-14-26

Yesterday, my friend and attended a beautiful wedding ceremony. It was an opportunity to wear my yellow butterfly dress that I love and have only worn it on one other occasion.  In today’s society people believe in dressing differently than they did years ago when there was a standard dress code for various occasions.

As for me, I love to stick to the old way of dressing according to the occasion. Most people were dressed for the wedding and everyone look so nice.

The special occasion was one that gave me joy because I have observed this young lady for more than four years and she truly conducts herself in a godly manner. What also impressed me is she reaches out to people and everyone is blessed by her presence.

I also believe that this marriage was ordained by God and this couple will share their lives together to glorify God. There are a few scriptures I would love to share pertaining to a godly marriage. This is what God said about Adam:

And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”(Genesis 2:18).

Abraham who was symbolic of God sent His Servant; symbolic of the Holy Spirit to get his son Isaac; symbolic of Jesus to get Rebecca to be Isaac’s wife. Rebecca was symbolic of the bride or the body of Christ (Genesis, chapter 24).

God  laid out the plan for a marriage to be ordained by Him.

I believe this scripture can also be used in a marriage.

Two are better than one- Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:11-12). Three fold cord – symbolizes the Triune God who is always in Oneness- The oneness in a marriage should be exemplary of the Godhead.

 The body of Christ-  Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). We know that God is always with us, but we need each other.

A man who finds a wife - He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22). How does the man obtain favor with the Lord? He allows the Spirit of God to direct Him to the person, because the Lord puts them together.

So, you see how important it is to trust the Lord and let Him direct your path. Someone may ask this question. What happens if a person is unequally yoked with an unbeliever. The answer is in God’s Word.

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?  And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:14-16).

What about unequally yoked in a marriage?- The Word of God:

But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? Please read 1 Corinthians 7:10-16.

Why does God take this so seriously? A marriage is to emulate Christ and His bride (the church).  Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge (Hebrews 13:4).
