Getting back to Jesus and some situations He used about people who were saved, which some scholars say they went to hell. How do I know Jesus is talking about saved people? Remember what I wrote about key words that give the meaning.
Example: Jesus spoke in parables about people who were saved, but they were not prepared to meet the Lord. This is the meaning of a parable: a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels.
The ten virgins- Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.” [The door was shut because they did not have rewards; Jesus didn't know them in the sense that they did not fulfill God's purpose].Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming (Matthew 25:1-13).
Key words- Virgin means to be pure; those who belong to Christ are pure. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin [untouched, undefiled] to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2). The Bridegroom is Christ and His virgins (born again believers) are supposed to be preparing themselves to meet the Bridegroom. Plus, each of us has been given our own individual assignment. We must serve in the ministry God has given to us.
Crosswalk.com -The parable emphasizes the importance of being spiritually prepared and vigilant, as the timing of Christ's return is unknown. It serves as a reminder for believers to live faithfully and diligently, ensuring they are ready for the moment when they will meet Christ. The oil symbolizes the readiness and the Holy Spirit, highlighting the need for a continuous and genuine relationship with God.
The five wise virgins were ready to meet Jesus, their Bridegroom, whereas the five foolish virgins were not ready. Although no one knows when Jesus is coming, we should be ready to meet Him.
The man at the wedding feast - Then he said to his servants, The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore, go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding. So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So, he said to him, friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 22:8-13).
How did the man get in the wedding feast? He belonged to Christ, but he did not have on the proper garments. This meant that he was not prepared to meet the King (Jesus). This is what will happen to those who are prepared-
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (Revelation 19:7-8)
Those who are not prepared will not receive rewards, and they will weep when they see all the scars that are on Jesus because of what He went through for them. And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends (Zechariah 13:6). However, they will not be weeping throughout eternity. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away (Revelation 21:4).
I will explain why some Christians will be in outer darkness in the next message.
