Transforming Lives: The Message Behind He Came to Set the Captives Free Free 8-5-26

Whom the Son sets Free is Free Indeed!

Being that this is the title that was given to me for my ministry, I am commissioned by the Lord to help my brothers and sisters who are still in bondage to things that are hindering them from moving forward in their spiritual walk. Sadly, some people don’t understand what it means to be free, and my heart goes out to them.

I am not doing this to make anyone feel worse but to open their eyes so they can be enlightened and lifted from the heavy laden burdens they are carrying (Matthew 11:28-30). Jesus came to set the captives free; the broken hearted, and to open the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18). Our freedom is complete in Jesus Christ; we need to understand it and walk in victory. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).

Jesus came to set us free from anything that had us bound; including every kind of healing (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24). How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38).

The Bible never said we would not experience sufferings on this side, but Joy will eventually come. Why? Jesus said: these things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full (John 15:11). Why? Because He has set you free (John 8:32, 36), and the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10b).

The devil will do everything possible to pull you back into bondage. Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1). Please don’t allow the enemy to keep you down-trodden, sorrowful, and grieving. When that happens, a wall is built and Jesus came to tear down any and every barrier.

There were some situations in my life since being born again that caused much grief, heartache and pain. Loss of material possessions two times (1989 and 2013). Went through a divorce (1989, mother passed in 2008; only biological sibling passed 2009. Moved back to New Jersey in 2021 and was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer; in 2024 my “Bestie” passed suddenly.

I am providing this information to say this: Despite every situation and circumstance God was and He still is good, and for all the things that happened, His purpose was served. I have never shared publicly what happened with my mother. The Spirit led me to sue the hospital due to a stage four decubitus ulcer (negligence) that caused her death. Despite the way she passed, her days were already numbered.

This was one of my most difficult challenges that caused me to want to give up in the midst of the  lawsuit! The Spirit also revealed that this was not for the money, but it was the principle. Confirmation came through many people who encouraged me to pursue this because they did not have the courage to move forward when certain situations happened to their loved ones. Not only were there greater material blessings, but to know what the Spirit to me to do, caused the corporation to change one of their policies.

This situation seemed too difficult, but GOD! He kept me and by His grace I was strengthened and endured that horrible experience. I thank Him for causing all things to work for my good and for the good of many others (Romans 8:28). What the devil meant for evil, turned out for the good. I also thank the Lord for a nurse friend who was there for me (and my mother too), to keep anything else from falling through the cracks (forever grateful)!

I truly believe this will help some others to be set free, because God’s Word will accomplish wherever and to whomever He sends it.

“I am free, praise the Lord, I’m free; no longer bound, no more chains holding me; my soul is resting, it’s such a blessing. Praise the Lord, Hallelujah. I’m free!
