As the message continues with false teaching, please ask the Spirit to sharpen your awareness as to what the Word of God says versus what some person says. The next baptism is another highly misunderstood one, because people are not rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
The Word of God must be interpreted properly, meaning we must not lean to our own understanding. We must remember that we are spiritual people, therefore it is absolutely necessary to think spiritually.
Water baptism is a command for us to show others that we have been identified with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection;
this is symbolism:
we went down, (we were buried with Christ), and we came up resurrected into the newness of life. Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4) This is being identified with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The Order:
Jesus told us to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20).
Caution:
If Jesus said baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, this makes the false teachers liars when they believe in one God but reject the traditional Trinitarian view of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Watch out for false teachers; they are saying that what Jesus said was not true.
Please remember that Jesus humbled Himself- who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:6-8). God elevated Jesus because He was obedient to death, the death of the cross.
I also heard a ‘Quote on Quote’ supposedly leader say this; “If you were baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you only or just got wet, true baptism comes in the name of Jesus”
John baptized for repentance only; he could not bring salvation. Although John had disciples, this was under the old covenant therefore the peoples’ sins were only covered, but Jesus’ baptism was for salvation (cleansed from sin), after He was resurrected from the dead. No one could be born again until after Jesus rose from the dead. His blood was for redemption (cleansed), which was permanent; different than the Old Testament saints being covered.
Those who teach false doctrines do not understand that the Jews had rejected Christ, therefore they were saying to them that true baptism (salvation) came through Jesus and it was necessary for them to believe that Jesus the Messiah died for their sins. John’s repentance was under old covenant – Jesus baptism with Holy Spirit and fire meant new birth to be born again; this had nothing to do with water baptism.
