Years ago, I was blessed to fellowship with a group of people while visiting a niece, and they introduced me to the “Purpose Driven Life” It was in the year of 2002, when
one of the greatest and impactful books was introduced to me. I hardly ever read books anymore; the Bible is my favorite, most impactful and influential book.
I had been born again for twenty years when the Lord ordained for me to read this book. I started with the group in New Jersey, and from there the book was read in another group, and to another person and me, and on to a Bible study class.
You may think is too much to read one book that many times with different people, yet it was absolutely necessary for me at that time. The Lord knows what we need, and when we need to enrich our lives, and to examine our walk to see how close our relationship is with Him.
At that time, when I looked back over the past twenty years of my life and saw some growth but I also recognized that I had a long way to go when it came to my spiritual journey. It’s not about me; this is all about God.
I had to really do some serious thinking as to how to make some changes for the better. As I continued to grow, There was a completely new meaning; it was not about my purpose, but about God’s purpose for my life.

Another asset in the book was accountability- In reading with someone else, things were pointed out about me and the other/s that helped to open our eyes to ourselves which results in humility. We are accountable to God and to others; we’re not here just to do what we choose to do. It’s all about God, and not about me.
God reveals His purpose for each of us in His Word- we have assignments (gifts) to glorify Him and to encourage each other.
What to take away-
As the year 2025 is coming to an end, let’s consider what can be done to have a closer walk with the Lord and when 2026 begins let’s purpose in our hearts to allow God’s purpose to be fulfilled in our lives. Remember this, it’s all about God!
