Will You be Ready When Jesus Comes?

Ten Virgins – Five Wise and Five Foolish

Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.  Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight a cry was heard: Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!  Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

But the wise answered, saying, No, lest these and not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

The door was shut did not lose their salvation, because they were in the kingdom of God. The door was shut to the kingdom of heaven, where the faithful saints will rule. This means they didn’t do the work they were called to do.

Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us! But he answered and said, Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming (Matthew 25:1-13).

Why did the Lord say, “I do not know you?” Because they did not fulfill God’s purpose for their lives. They may have done something, but they did not do what God called them to do.

Internet: Virgins- Believers when they are pure (chaste), i.e., faithful to Christ their heavenly Bridegroom. For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ (2 Cor 11:2).

Internet: Lamps- Matthew 25:1-4 shows all the virgins have the same beliefs, represented by the lamps they carry with them. The lamps represent the Word, the laws, and the statutes of God. Five of the virgins are foolish and five are wise, showing that the end-time church is composed of two types of members.

The foolish represents the carnal Christians;

the wise represents those who do not compromise and get caught up in worldly things.

Bridegroom – who belongs to Him? Only the born again believers.

Internet: Oil - Give some of your oil- Oils mentioned in the Bible are considered symbols of receiving anointing from God through the Holy Spirit. In Matthew 25:1-13, it’s believed that the use of oil (lamps) carried by the ten virgins represents the Holy Spirit.

No one can give what they have been assigned to do to another person; likewise, no one receive from another what God has called them to do.

For the Christians who walk they way they choose to, this is a word of caution. And now, little children abide [continue, remain] in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming (1 John 2:28). God does not walk away from us but we can step aside in our walk with Him.

When the Word is speaking of rulership, it is referring to the Kingdom/Government of heaven (to rule over cities). The Kingdom of God is talking about salvation- eternal life.
