Precious Memories, How they Linger!
Memories of Jackie’s son are forever in her heart. August is the most difficult time (the day Anthony lost his life in Iraq), yet Memorial Day Celebration in the park annually helps to keep her spirit up. Knowing that so many others care and support this event is comforting and appreciated.
During our conversations when traveling with her to various places and especially to Anthony’s gravesite, I heard the pain in her voice and have seen the tears. Yet God has graced her with incredible strength to continue fulfilling His purpose in her life.
Jackie loves sharing about Anthony’s mission in the military and how he was dedicated to the cause.
He wore a chain around his neck with this scripture on it:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9).
Thank the Lord that Anthony was willing to die for others to be free. He was prepared to meet the Lord.
My sister friend is known as the one of the “Gold Star Moms” who lost their sons in a war. Jacquelyn Dixon is a “Gold Star Mom” indeed, and her mission about veterans stands out as well as her service in the Kingdom of God. Jackie has a quiet demeanor, but she shines bright!
I certainly feel this scripture is befitting for a true woman of God. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever (Daniel 12:3).
Blessings to the Dixon family.
