It was written previously that there are three baptism – new birth, water, and baptism with/in the Holy Spirit.

Salvation- Baptized into one Spirit- For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).

Salvation and Water Baptism- Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). This means to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and baptize them in water.
Baptize with/in the Holy Spirit- But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

The baptism with or in the Holy Spirit is for every believer if they desire it. It is not the gift of tongues that is listed with the power gifts given by the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:10, but it is our prayer language.
There are times when we are prompted to pray, yet we don’t know exactly what or for whom to pray. One hundred, twenty people waited in the upper room until they received power from on high (Luke 24:49, Acts 2:2-4). The people received power to witness and minister more effectively.
This is the scripture a religious movement uses to say the way one has to be saved is to baptized in Jesus name and to speak in tongues. And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus.
And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So, they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So, they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all (Acts 19:1-7).
Remember this, these people only understood the baptism of John because they were his disciples. This was an unusual event- they were not only baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, which meant salvation, they also were baptized with the Holy Spirit, which was evidenced with speaking in tongues.
The people that teach false doctrines do not understand that the Jews had rejected Christ, therefore the apostles were saying to them that true baptism (salvation) came through Jesus and it was necessary for them to believe that Jesus the Messiah died for their sins. John’s repentance under old covenant – Jesus baptism with Holy Spirit and fire meant new birth (to be born again), this had nothing to do with water baptism.
Jesus’ disciples did not receive salvation until after He was raised from the dead. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22).
Also, they were not baptized with Holy Spirit until Jesus left. The Holy Spirit could not come upon the disciples until Jesus left. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (John 7:9). They received the baptism with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, evidenced with speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4).
Ps. If anyone questions or say that tongues is not for today or that tongues is of the devil, why do I speak or pray in tongues and why did the apostle speak or pray in tongues? (1 Corinthians, chapter 14)
