Blessed Above and Beyond

Eventful Days

Last Saturday, I was with one of my nieces; she called it aunt/niece day. We went to Pitman, which was close to where she lives, and on to Glassboro for lunch; from there we went to a Pop-up event where two other nieces and a nephew were. It was such a fun day!

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, a couple of groups came to us seniors to celebrate Juneteenth with us seniors, and they really put the icing on the cake. They did the whole nine yards, they went over and beyond, they topped it off in their service to us.

When I say they served, that is what I think of the ministry in the body of Christ, and how we are called to serve. Those females (older and younger), and one young male worked together diligently and with smiles on their faces. It was a blast!

You would have thought we were at a wedding reception, they way the decorated the place. Many times, older people (I didn’t say old- smile), are forgotten or put on the back burner, but these awesome people served their elders respectfully and joyfully, as they commemorated “Juneteenth” and honored us seniors.

Thanks for the senior luncheon that was hosted by: NJ Garden Center Alumni Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Julie A. Peterson, President. May God continue to bless you abundantly in your service to Him and to others, especially the aged. You are included in helping to live the best years of my life- As my days are so shall my strength be (Deuteronomy 33:25).

One of the ways my strength was exemplified on Juneteenth – I did not stop at the luncheon; later that day I drove to Camden with a friend to continue celebrating Juneteenth at an event at City Hall. What a day!
