Can the Baton (Mantle) be Passed on to Another? 11-5-26

Why pass on something to someone that doesn’t belong to them.

Many kings in the Old Testament- Many kings sons were anointed kings, but some were not. For instance, Saul, the first king of Israel had a son named Johnathan who did not become a king. Yet David’s son Solomon reigned as king. So, who anointed these kings? God did!

Though the years I heard many people say they received someone’s mantle; not true! So, who anointed these kings? God did!

No one receives another person’s mantle. If that was true why did Elisha’s ministry excel Elijah’s ministry?

FYI- Elijah was Elisha’s mentor which was ordained by God. Whatever our calling is, there must be training. One cannot jump into ministry without some formal training. It’s the same when we go to school, education is necessary to live a successful life.

My example- Many years ago, my mother told me I reminded her of her mother who was a powerful intercessory prayer warrior. That did not mean I received her mantle although she was the greatest spiritual influence in my life. I have been an intercessor for forty three years.

Anointing -all the people of God are given a special grace (the anointing) to function in the specific calling to fulfill God’s purpose.

In Psalm 139:14, we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God as His masterpieces (Ephesians 2:10) who are unique because no two people are alike not even twins (different DNA), in ministry and those who were anointed prophets and kings were individually done by God.

Example: If someone was a king, prophet, pastor and so on, given the same gift, but their anointing is different. They minister in the grace calling that is given to them.

The principle is the same in the Old and New Testament; they were appointed by God. The difference is their anointing was temporary  because the Holy Spirit did not live in them, but He empowered them for certain assignments.

New Testament – For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God (Romans 13:2).

Under grace, our anointing is permanent; when Jesus rose from the dead, the Holy lives in us permanently. Please don’t down play God and think that He gives you someone else’s mantle; that would take the uniqueness away.

Passing the baton to someone else is not a spiritual concept. Many leaders establish their own ministry and at some point, hand the baton to their son to keep their ministry going.

Unless the Spirit guides, this is done in vain.
