Some more of Jesus’ Descendants - They Did Some BAD Things.
Judah slept with Tamar - And it came to pass, about three months after, that Judah was told, saying, Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the harlot; furthermore, she is with child by harlotry.
So, Judah said, bring her out and let her be burned! When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, by the man to whom these belong, I am with child. And she said, please determine whose these are—the signet and cord, and staff.
So, Judah acknowledged them and said, she has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son. And he never knew her again (Genesis 38:24-26).
This is the prophesy Jacob Judah’s father spoke to him: Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s children shall bow down before you. Judah is la lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him?
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes (Genesis 49:8-12). Strong’s concordance - tranquil; Shiloh, an epithet of the Messiah -- Shiloh.
And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals? And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it
So, I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals (Revelation 5:1-4).
Rahab (prostitute) Hides the Spies
Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, go, view the land, especially Jericho. So, they went and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab and lodged there. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.
So, the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country. Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So, she said, Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.
Rahab’s conversation with the men. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
So, the men answered her, our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.
In essence, salvation came to Rahab and her family. Please read Joshua, chapter 2.
