A Double Standard

Do you please God or a person; would you rather go along with sin (sweep it under the carpet, turn your eyes the other way) than please the God whom you claim to be your Father and condone someone’s abominable sin?

Again, I am not talking about unsaved people, because all of us have committed some atrocious sin, because all have (in the past) fallen short of God’s glory before we were born again but now we are changed.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,  nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God ( 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

 We are told to. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.  Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

We can’t say, “This is my body, and I can do what I want to do with it” God owns your body; He made it (Psalm 139:14).

Bottom line is- We are called to be lights to the saved who are still walking in darkness and to the unsaved. Two ways to minister- saved – don’t agree with their lifestyles but tell them the truth in love.

So, what do some consider love? Love can be tough, depending on the situation and how the Spirit of God is leading.

Example: Jesus rebuked those who professed to be saved (they knew the law); He called them hypocrites, etc.) because they were using the scriptures to their advantage and abusing ignorant people. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore, you will receive greater condemnation (Matthew 23:14).

Please don’t say: “What they do is their business” That’s not true, we are accountable to God and each other. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 5, we have the right to judge those who have ungodly lifestyles in the church; God judges the sinner. If any kind of sin is allowed among the body of believers, it spreads. I am a living witness of homosexuality spread in a church and some people died from aids (HIV).

Love to the unsaved – easy does it! Don’t turn people off by beating them up and making them feel there is no hope. Tell them how much God loves them; let them know that you did some bad things too. Let them know that a relationship with Jesus will set them free from the bondage of sin.
