The Purpose of the Blood of Jesus.

I found more than thirty scriptures relating to the blood of Jesus and its purpose, and this verse is crucial when it comes to my message-  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14).

Why? Because anything done by the people of God that is contrary to His will is dead works!

There is a HUGE difference in being covered by the blood of Jesus and being cleansed by His precious blood. Whoever thinks that they are covered by the blood of Jesus does not understand that in the Old Testament God’s peoples’ sins were covered by the blood goats, bulls and lamb which was symbolic or a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ which temporary until He died and rose from the dead and we are cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus.

For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 12:23).

The unspotted lamb was symbolic of Jesus. but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (1 Peter 1:19). John the Baptist called Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

Anything that is covered can be uncovered, but whatever is sealed, it cannot be broken.

Covering in the Old Testament was temporary, the  blood on doorpost  was symbolic of them being sealed and the destroyer (devil) could not take them to hell.

For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. This was not talking about a literal death, it was spiritual (Exodus 12:23).

In the Old Testament future things were a foreshadowing of types and figures. So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,  and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God (Colossians 1:16-19).

My shadow is not the real me; you see me all the time, my shadow is not always visible, but I am.

Many Christians are still seeing through their carnal eyes because they don’t understand spiritual things. They are thinking like a natural or unsaved person- SAD This is a spiritual walk and if you are saved you’re are a supernatural being- You have been changed; made new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:11).

In essence, what is the blood of Jesus for? It is to cleanse (purify) us from sin!
