Delight Yourself in the Lord! 9-15-24
I love to share the Word of God with others, and even when my personal stories are shared, they are for God to be glorified! Yesterday, I shared about the European trip the Lord blessed me to take with my now deceased sister, our friend Agnes, and her now deceased husband Earl to visit our friend Bernadette who was stationed in Germany.
My faith was strong enough to believe the Lord would allow me to travel no income, but stipends and blessings from others. I did have to beg or borrow; the Lord moved upon the hearts of certain people.
On Friday, my god children (Steve and Barbara- husband and wife) came to visit me. Every time they come; some blessings are in their hands. Friday they had picked up a meal from Mission Barbeque in Deptford. I was introduced to their scrumptious food by another friend a couple of years ago.
This is the testimony about the food that Steve and Barbara blessed me with the meal that we enjoyed, plus hours of fellowship.
A few weeks ago, I purchased a new computer for the ministry from Staples which is remarkably close to Mission Barbeque. While they were transferring my files from the old computer to the new one, I decided to walk and check out the restaurant’s business hours.
I had a taste for their food, but they were not open, so my thought was, “One day I’ll have it again.” When Barbara texted me a couple days prior to their visit, it never dawned on me that they were bringing food from Mission’s.
The main point is this. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:6). This is a conditional promise – To delight in the Lord means to align ourselves with the will of God. One can’t just say “God will give the desires of my heart” It’s more to it than that. You must be doing what is pleasing to the Lord.
Although I don’t dot every I, and cross every T, my heart’s desire is to please the Lord! Thank you Steve and Barbara for the testimony that came from the Lord using you to grant me the desires of my heart.
I thank God for all the many people He uses to be a blessing to me in various ways. My latter years truly are greater than my former years. The Lord rains down showers of blessings through my family and friends. I thank Him for those who honor me in my senior years; that makes life so much easier for me since I don’t have biological children; yet the Lord has blessed me with many spiritual children. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. He is worthy of all praises, glory, and honor!
