Exploring the Depths of the LOVE Chapter - Insight 8-12-26

The Greatest of Everything is LOVE

After posting yesterday’s message, I was led by the Spirit to challenge the readers on 1 Corinthians 13, the LOVE chapter. Today I am going to use certain words in that chapter for all of us to truthfully examine ourselves and see if our lives are characterized by any of these words. Note- I am writing to myself too!

Words-

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 

In fact, tongues and prophecy are two of the most abused gifts, because people love to be seen.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

One can be loud and boisterous, and stand among the crowd, yet without love he is nothing. Nothing spiritual materializes from speaking in tongues when it is done out of order.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. If anyone is bragging about their ministry to the poor, they are doing it for the wrong reason and it will not profit them anything.

Love suffers long and is kind; - patient with others and is kindhearted. Love does not envy - it esteems others more highly than themselves.

Love does not parade itself - being a show off; flamboyant; is not puffed up; (full of pride) does not take the high seat; does not behave rudely - does not have any tact, whatever comes up comes out, without considering how it is going to negatively affect someone else (no filter).

does not seek its own, a true servant looks out for others are willing to give up something to bless others in need; is not easily provoked - not quick to get angry, quick to hear (listen), slow to anger. thinks no evil-  thinking evil of others comes from people who see no wrong in themselves; does not rejoice in iniquity - does not rejoice when another person falls into sin or when one suffers from reaping what they sow,  but rejoices in the truth; 

bears and endure all things, whatever the afflictions may be, the Lord upholds us with His right hand; believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. It takes faith and trusting wholly in the Lord to be able to endure whatever comes our way.

For we know in part and we prophesy in part.  But when that which is perfect has co [the Perfect One is Jesus] me, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  For now, we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

In my conclusion, on yesterday the confirmation came from Charles Stanley’s In Touch daily reading. My words: This is what a mature person is – He or she has grown spiritually enough to learn that true love is an act of humility, like Jesus our role model was, Jesus bent down and washed the disciples feet (John 13:7-8). Jesus came to serve [not to take the high seat], not to be served (Matthew 20:28). He had a problem with certain disciples who wanted the high seat  (Matthew 10:35-45).

This was Jesus greatest act of LOVE and HUMILITY- Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross cross (Philippians 2:5-8).

Brothers, sisters and Betty, let’s take this message into consideration and if we are guilty of anything that’s written today, it’s time to repent.
