A Service Well Done- Mission Accomplished!

This is for my friend Jackie Dixon, whose son Anthony Dixon lost his  life in Iraq due a bomb that detonated; he was killed instantly August 1,  2004.

Jackie is not only my friend and fellow laborer in the Lord, but we also travel together quite often (the Road Runners). Actually, this was our third trip to Central New Jersey in eight days (Columbus and Monroe).

I rode with Jackie and her granddaughter Autumn to the cemetery to visit Anthony’s grave; this was my second time going to Anthony’s gravesite at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey, the largest military cemetery in the state.

But this was my first time going on his birthdate. This would have been Anthony’s forty second birthday.

A cross had been donated to Jackie for this special occasion and as Autumn stuck  the cross in the ground,  I saw my friend break down in tears. After twenty two years since she lost her youngest child, Jackie’s heart still aches.

Anthony was so willing to serve his country that he wasn’t scheduled to go out, but he asked permission from his Sargent to go out which ended up costing his life.

Jackie told me that Anthony wore a chain with Joshua 1:9 on it.  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

I find it to be so befitting that we visited the gravesite on Monday, April 6th after celebrating “Resurrection Day” the day before. I thought about Anthony and how he so willing and humbly served his country on foreign soil and died for others could be free. Jesus Christ came to a foreign country to save (liberate) us.

Anthony was a recipient of a “Purple Heart” which was suitable and honorable for a young man who gave his whole heart to help others. What an awesome sacrifice!

Jackie became a “God Star Mom” who is recognized in many places because of her dear son Anthony’s accomplished mission. I traveled with her to the NJ Five mile run last September to Cape May, Wildwood and Sea Isle City.

We have so much fun together; both of us love to travel. What a perfect match, praise the Lord! GOD DID IT!!!
