Excited to Digest the Word and Assemble with the Saints 9-1-24
The pastor has been teaching on a series from the book of first John, titled “The Assurance of Salvation” This may sound strange to some of the readers who may be wondering why would he teach being sure of salvation when the church members are supposed to be saved.
Well, I have news for you! Unsaved people are welcome and encouraged to attend church services, but no one should be a member unless they have confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. Yet, everyone that’s a member may not be saved, and every member may not have the assurance of salvation, even if they are saved.
I was led to go to a hospital several years ago to witness (give her the plan of salvation) and to pray for a long time member of a church. She has been working on several organizations for many years, yet the lady was not saved. By the way, the Spirit has led me to several people who were on their dying beds.
This is what else I was led to do; I asked a sister to meet me at the hospital to be a witness to what was going to take place. The reason being was, if some others in the church heard that I gave the lady the plan of salvation, they would not have believed me. They probably would have sworn on their mother’s grave that the lady was saved because many of them did not understand salvation either.
The Word of God says, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established Matthew (18:16b).
The Word of God says, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established Matthew (18:16b). Back to what the Spirit of God led me to do. The sister met me at the hospital at one o’clock. We started praying and she was saying something unintelligible. The sister asked me “What was that?” I said, “A demon” and we kept praying until the lady was calm. I talked about the works she had done in the church all those years, but a relationship with Christ was more important than the works (Ephesians 2:8-9). I gave her the plan of salvation and the lady received Jesus as her Savior.
Early the next morning the lady’s daughter told me she had passed. A couple of days later the sister who met me at the hospital and another sister and I went to one of the daughter’s house and during the conversation she said “I hope So and So (her mother) got it right. We assured her that her mother was saved, praise the Lord.
My brothers and sisters, it excites me to hear the pastor teaching on “The Assurance of Salvation” and how a true Christian should walk; how we should pursue holiness and seek to purify our hearts by the grace of God. From his messages, I certainly believe the pastor has a concern for souls. Thank the Lord that he is not intimidated, praise the Lord!. Souls are also important to me, what about you?
