This message is timely and it is a Sunday sermon preached on paper to challenge Christians who are in fear and others who have the resources to those in need, especially in times like these. I will give pointers leading up to the upcoming messages. Today’s message is an introduction to the ones that will follow this one. There are two reasons for this series: It is about “Tithes” – “Giving” of which both are commands from the Lord God.
I don’t know who is doing what; therefore, this a generalized message to challenge the churches that are not following God’s commands when it comes to giving. Christians who are rich in this world-
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they are rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
They have eternal life, but what about rewards for being faithful and obedient (Matthew 25:21, 23).
I do know this, according to the news, many people (some restaurant owners) have stepped up to the plate because their compassion kicked in, and they don’t want to see children without food. Their sacrificial giving is a “Sowing and Reaping” principle. Give and it shall be given to…….people will give back to you (Luke 6:38). As a person sow, so shall they reap (Galatians 6:7). This principle works for everyone, saved or unsaved.
Now to the message today. I am concentrating on the Government shutdown and how so many people are in fear of not getting any benefits. It is unbelievable how some professed Christians are caught up in the rumors and they pass it on to others. That’s a trick from the enemy to put us in fear.
I almost got caught up in all those negative statements (rumors) that were coming into my ear gate. This is what I tell others; as humans, doubt, and fear come into our minds.
Yet “I don’t let the obstacles of my mind over-rule my faith.”
I start quoting the Word of God that pertains to my specific situation. Cast down imaginations (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21).
God has not given me the spirit of fear, which torments – If we say we love God He has given us the power (ability) to overcome every doubt and fear. Soundness of mind increases the more we trust God our Father, having the assurance that a good Father takes care of His children. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Every of Word (promise) of God is true- Yes! And Amen! (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Bottom line is, it takes faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:1, 6). for whatever is not from faith is sin (Romans 14:23).
Are you in a panic mode? Where is your faith?
