The Seniors Were at It Again! Making Cookies

I usually participate in most things that take place at the Senior Center- different games, exercise, shopping trips, along with what I like to do most; that is talking to each person individually or the those who are grouped at one of the several tables.

On Thursday prior to the Easter holiday, we made cookies from dough that the leaders provided for us. There were rolling pins, cookie cutters in various shapes and sizes. This was really a great time of comparing and showing our cookies to others. We took our cookies home and baked them in our ovens.

We seniors were getting a kick out making those cookies, and for me, I don’t remember making cookies before. It could be that I this “Recycled Teenager” was having a “Senior Moment.” Paul named us “Recycled Teenagers” Whatever the case, this was fun and all of us were excited and enjoying every minute of it. I had on black pants and flour was all over them, but that did not bother me. Making cookies were more important.

Our Butterfly “Kim” was not profiling that day; she was doing what I usually do; taking pictures.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to go to which gives us a better quality of life. Our managers are great and they not only do everything possible to enrich our lives, but they also accept ideas from us and we are allowed to assist them in making things better for all of us.

“Oh, What a fun time it was making cookies.”

After arriving home, the oven was turned on and the cookies were put on a baking sheet for approximately ten to fifteen minutes. Once they were done I ate a couple of them while they were still warm; they were very tasty.

Later on, that day, I decided to eat another cookie and it was hard as a rock. You probably can guess what happened to the cookies; in the trash they went. After sharing what had happened, it was told to me what could have been done to make them soft again- TOO LATE! Next time, I will know better and do better-

Until our next story, see ya’ll later.
