Last Sunday a message was posted about “When and How Do You Worship” Sunday night I was looking at one of Charles Stanley’s older messages which was conformation for this message to be written.
There are many ways to worship the Lord. In fact, our worship should be a lifestyle. Today’s message is a piggy back from that one. One of the ways of worshipping God is through our generous giving.
Today there are four connecting, relating and supporting scriptures that will be used: Hebrews, chapter 7. It has been written before; more has been added to bring about a clearer understanding. Sometimes certain things have to be reiterated, because as we grow, there is more insight. I call it line upon line and precept upon precept (Isaiah); a little here and a little there. Knowledge and understanding are still being shaped.
Now to the command to give and the results of generous giving:
Do Not Rob God
Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house [the church], and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing.
That there will not be room enough to receive it. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground [my truck is almost fifteen years old], nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the Lord of hosts; (Malachi 3:8-11).
Excel in Giving-
Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-4).
The Cheerful Giver- But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap [e]bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of [f]necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever (2 Corinthians 9:6-9).
I don’t know about you but I tithe to King Jesus, since we are under a new and better covenant. Please read Hebrews, chapter 7.
Do not God by giving out of necessity, penny pinching, squeezing your hand- these ways cause you to miss your blessings by giving grudgingly. It’s not yours anyway, the Lord blessed you with ninety percent and people don’t want to give back a small portion of what belongs to Him (tithes and offerings),
For those who say tithes are not for today, why are my blessings overflowing? I also give offerings, and on what is considered a fixed income; but I am rich because my Father is rich! I love to testify of God’s goodness- Charles Stanley said: “When we tell others of the results of God’s giving, they are encouraged and it motivates them to bless and be blessed.” Warning: Don’t give just to get; give out of the goodness of your heart because you love the Lord!
Next- How much do you love Jesus?
