And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).

In the Old Testament, they had no power, God intervened on their behalf. Let’s separate the Old Testament from the New Testament – Why were the people told that the battle was not theirs but the Lord’s?

Again, because the Holy Spirit had not come.  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8), they were powerless to fight on their on. We are powerless too unless there is an understanding that the Holy Spirit gives us the power as we surrender to Him. The Holy Spirit is the power behind everything which includes empowering us for warfare.

We must that there was a separation from the old covenant and the new and better covenant, meaning that some Old Testament done were done away with when Jesus died and rose; a new and better covenant is for  us. Please do not misunderstand what is being said. The entire Bible was written for us to benefit from. Knowing history is important and we can be blanked in our walk.

Nugget: God fought His peoples’ battles because He was their Deliverer, but under grace, the Holy Spirit empowers us to fight in this warfare. For those who don’t understand this and still thinks the Lord will fight for us, it is difficult to walk in victory. If we do not understand the Word, the demons will attack and leave us powerless.

Let’s separate the Old Testament from the New Testament – Why were the people told that the battle was not theirs but the Lord’s? Again, because the Holy Spirit had not come, they were powerless to fight on their on. These scriptures will bring a better understanding of how the old is different from the new. New Testament -  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-13).

Keep showing Love to people and eventually there is a possibility you could Love the devil out of them.

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.  Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Therefore, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing, you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:17-21).

This is not an Old Testament ceremonial law thing (“an eye for eye and tooth for tooth”); it is a New Testament grace thing (no retaliation). We are empowered to take care of the demons; God takes care of the people.

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you (Matthew 5:44).

The way to fight our battles is to LOVE, do GOOD, BLESS, and PRAY. Jesus taught and exemplified LOVE!  And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 3:8).

Take away: Do you ever wonder why something is always going wrong in your life? The message above is the reason!
