The Awesome Empowerment by the Holy Spirit!
Ever since that day I was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. That day has been a Pentecost for me. I am a Pentecostal at heart!
Everything that the Lord stated on the day of Pentecost is still relevant today. being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).
There isn’t one thing celebrating Pentecost Sunday, I am just sharing what it means to me.
On that momentous day in Acts 2:1-31, which was the beginning of the church age, was Peter’s first use of the keys.
This is considered the birthday of the church- not necessarily a spiritual birth date. Why? Because one hundred and twenty saved (born again) people were in Jerusalem in the upper room waiting to receive power from on high: Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8).
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. While three thousand were saved (added to the church)-(Acts 2:41). The Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:47:b).
Day of Pentecost- This is called the greater harvest because all peoples, kindreds and tongues were added to the church. However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand (Acts 4:4).
And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women (Acts 5:14).
This is the results of the greater harvest. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands (Revelation 7:9)
New Testament Fulfillment- But each one in his own order: Christ the first fruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming (1 Corinthians 15:23).
The Church as First Fruits- I beseech [urge] you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).
This is our act of worship (first fruit), which is symbolic of the first fruit offerings in the Old Testament, and it is a daily requirement! FYI- This kind of fiery empowerment is supernatural, not emotional; the Holy Spirit is gentle yet He is still all-powerful!
