Walk in the Light 3-27-26

We must walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

Now that it is understood that the change (transformation) has taken place, let’s go to the next step. The initial transformation is the state of being saved and nothing can change that; we are just as saved as we’re ever going to be. In other words, once one is saved he or she remains saved.

Yet, there is more to it, a continual transformation is necessary, to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. It is up to us to conduct ourselves in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.

Transformation is a process and it takes a lifetime of spiritual growth.

We are told this: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable, service  And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing [renovation of that makes a person different than in the past] of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).

I am penning these two scriptures more simply: I urge you brothers and sisters by the mercies of God that you present your bodies sacrificially in service, obedience and praises offered to God; conduct yourselves physically pure, and strive to make yourselves pleasing to God, knowing that the Lord God would never request anything of you that is not within reason. Therefore, your service of worship should be of inner motives more than outward deeds.

Don’t adapt to the world system but be transformed, which means a change that causes you to be different than in your past. Look at it like this: you are being renovated and in the process you must continue to do upgrades, which makes you more valuable. There is more equity (greater reward).

The next paragraphs are the way the children of God walk in the light.

Many people still say Jesus is the Light of the World and songs have been published about Jesus being the Light of the world.  Jesus said about Himself: As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world (John 9:5).

Believers Are Salt and Light

Jesus said to us:

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16).

John wrote –  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

Jesus is no longer here, therefore we are to be imitators of Him and walk in the light in this cold, cruel, sinful, and dark world.
