Will You be Ashamed When Jesus Comes? 8-20-25

BIBLICAL Facts - Not Opinions! My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge (Hosea 4:6)

All of the previous messages were about rewards in heaven; they were not about salvation. Why? If one is saved they are guaranteed to go to heaven. However, what we do here on earth to serve God’s purpose determines if we will gain or loose rewards. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,  each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.  If anyone’s work which he has built on endures, he will receive a reward.  If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).

This scripture is in many of my messages because it spells out completely about saved people and how they will lose their rewards.

And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.  If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him (1 John 2:28-29).

I am not trying to judge, condemn, or put anyone one a guilt trip. This is what the Word of God says, and I am writing to bring this to the readers’ awareness as to how serious it is to know what is required of us as God’s people.

Some things that will cause the saints to be ashamed:

Study habits: These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so (Acts 17:11).  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Being carnal; acting like unsaved people – And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)

Not spending quality time with our Father – Some people use excuses for not having enough time; a time belongs to God. He does not want to be on the back burner. Not doing what is required of us makes God jealous because more time is spent without Him being involved (Exodus 34:14). This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (Joshua 1:8, 1 Timothy 4:15).

Not finding out what God’s purpose is for your lives-  You have been gifts to serve. Don’t let Jesus catch you with your work undone. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Running the race, finishing the course is what the Lord expects of us:

Paul’s Valedictory

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearance (Philippians 4:6-8).

How many of you can actually say that is true for yourselves? It saddens my heart to go to funerals and the scripture is used about Paul’s valedictory speech.
