Ain't that a Shame!

Children of God Involved in Witchcraft?

  • This message has been in my spirit for quite some time, and I was waiting for the Lord to open the door for it to be posted. There is not a better time than now, especially after Halloween.

  • Some people do not believe that witchcraft is real. Well, you will learn what the Word of God says about it. There are so many scriptures pertaining to these ungodly practices that I will point out a few.

Witchcraft, as most commonly understood in both historical and present-day communities, is the use of alleged supernatural powers of magic. A witch is a practitioner of witchcraft. Traditionally, "witchcraft" means the use of magic or supernatural powers to inflict harm or misfortune on others, and this remains the most common and widespread meaning. However, people seek people with these powers to get spells taken off of themselves or their loved ones.

  • Different nationalities use different words, and some words in the Bible may be different but all of it fall under witchcraft. Some words are voo-doo, roots, Santeria palm readers, psychics, fortune tellers, root doctors, divination, sorcery/sorcerers (pharmakeia: the use of medicine, drugs, or spells), necromancy (communicating with the dead) - And when they say to you, inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? (Isaiah 8:19).

Old Testament

  • Those who practice witchcraft us divination- You shall not permit a sorceress to live (Exodus 22:17). Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God (Leviticus 19:31). A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones (Leviticus 20:27).

ExampleSaul

Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had lamented for him and buried him in Ramah, in his own city. And Saul had put the mediums and the spiritists out of the land. Then the Philistines gathered together and came and encamped at Shunem. So, Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped at Gilboa.

When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, find me a woman who is a medium [witch], that I may go to her and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, In fact, there is a woman who is a medium [witch] at En Dor (1 Samuel 28:3-7). Please read the entire chapter.

  • Tomorrow, I plan to bring the New Testament account about witchcraft and my personal encounter with women operating in what seemed to be true gifts.

  • Ps. From what has been posted today, if you have been involved in any of these ungodly practices, ask the Lord to forgive you and move forward. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

  • Lastly, once you have confessed, do not let the devil put you into condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). God has justified you, who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us (Romans 8:33-34).
