When Saved People Die, Do They Gain Wings?
The next few messages will be about the role of angels. Today, I will share about an erroneous belief about God’s people gaining their wings. This has been said and publicized countless times.
I had written an entire message and when I shared this with someone for proof reading, it led me to go another way with the message and prepare the readers to receive and understand the upcoming messages about angels.
During the conversation, and while reading over the message, it was like a lightbulb went on; I never picked up on the word “Gained” and what it meant. Wow! The Spirit of God is so awesome!
This is how and why I believe there was spiritual enlightenment. In the last few days, the number 333 kept popping up. It is connected to a scripture that I have been using for years - Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3).
When we are truly seeking the Lord, He reveals whatever we need to know through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, through circumstances and through people, especially through those who have the call (office of teacher – Ephesians 4:11).
Back to people who gained their wings- It was revealed that these people think gaining their wings is getting their rewards. We will be rewarded for doing the will of God our Father, which includes: did we seek God for our spouse (mate), managing His money, are we operating in the awesome gifts that are given to us to encourage one another so God will be glorified?
Rewards have nothing to do with salvation; regardless of what we do, nothing can change the new life that God has given us. In other words, no one can work to be saved, because God took care that without anyone’s help (Ephesians 2:8-9). However, work is a by-product of salvation.
We will never receive (gain) “wings” we will be rewarded according to our works. And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work (Revelation 22:5).
Angels have wings and we are under God’s divine protection: He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways (Psalm 91:1, 11). Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14). We have been under God’s divine protection all of our lives.
The last few days I have come so close to being involved in an accident that my heart felt like it had dropped. Each time that happened I started praising and thanking God for His divine protection through His angels. Praise God for His angels keeping watch over us.
