The 250th Anniversary

Wednesday night another person and I took the Patco train (high Speedline) to Philly in hopes to see the beautiful display of lights at the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival. It was difficult to get a good view from the outside, and we certainly were not paying to get in; too much free stuff all over the area.

I love lights, but not that much; that’s one of the main reasons going to New York is always exciting and enjoyable to me. The sister and I decided to continue walking toward China Town; ran into some interesting young people who wore tee-shirts with Brazil on them; they were in Philly for the Fifa World Cup tournament.

We kept walking until we reached City Hall, where the colors red and blue definitely illuminated from the top of City hall and the Masonic Temple across the street. I was in awe at the beauty. Our walk continued around the other side of the building to the park that had a beautiful water fall, and other things for the kids to enjoy, which was a delight to see how pleasurable it was for the parents to watch their children having so much fun!

We walked around the entire building and on down Market St, heading to the subway. During that walk, a beautiful mural had been painted and it certainly blended in with the United States two hundred and fiftieth birthday, and especially Philadelphia where the “Declaration of Independence” was signed on July 4, 1776.

Want to know what else makes Philadelphia glow? Despite all the negativity and opposition, nothing could stop the city and events from shining bright. To see people from all over the world come together in harmony and having fun together, reminds me of what

Christians are supposed to do.

What a blessing it was for me to see the magnificent well lit buildings that had such a unique glow, and most of all the history of where it all started in Philadelphia, PA, the city of “Brotherly” and “Sisterly” LOVE!
