This message is for born again believers to understand the Biblical guidelines for marriage, for those who are already married, and anyone who is planning to be married. I have read, seen and know of some people who found their mate through the internet on certain websites. If you have done this and your marriage is still good, it is by God’s grace.

There is a saying that “Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors” and that is true. So, this is not a judgment call, it is to provide the correct information that comes straight from the Word of God- FACTS.

The principle of a God ordained marriage started in the Old Testament. God used this example and symbolism for His people. Example and symbolism- Abraham sent his servant to get his son Isaac (symbolic of Jesus) a bride- Abraham was symbolic of God who sent His Servant, symbolic of the Holy Spirit to get His Son Isaac’s bride (Rachel), who was symbolic of  the church (body of Christ); the full story is in Genesis, chapter 24.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor [approval] from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22). Pay close attention to the word find; the Word never says a woman who finds a husband finds a good thing and obtains favor with the Lord.

This verse puts strong emphasis on the male as the initiator of finding a wife, and for him to find favor with the Lord, it certainly means he found a good wife, that he allowed the Lord to lead him to the right woman, and that’s how the man obtained favor with the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25). A Christian marriage is supposed to exemplify that of us being married to Christ-  "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints (Revelation 19:7-8).

Two become ONE
Two become ONE

According to statistics, divorce have increased among the Christians. It is not good to go against God’s rules; He has everything laid out and we need to follow His guidelines.

Marrying unequally yoked is not in the will of God, and there are consequences. What’s even worse is to counsel and perform a marriage ceremony to unequally yoked people.

Two of my experiences- I felt privileged to be asked to council and perform the marriage ceremony, but when it was discovered in both situations the people were unequally yoked, I immediately stopped the counseling and moved away from being involved. The people may not have understood, but at that point, what and who matter most was God. I praise the Lord God Almighty for giving me the strength and courage to say no. I don’t have any blood on my hand.
