Many people have said that Jesus was a man of color because His hair was white like lamb’s wool- indicating He had kinky hair like many people of color, His red indicating that many of us have reddish or even blood shot looking eyes. I am saying that this description of Jesus’s was not about His complexion. However, history lets us know several things that prove He was not a Caucasian (some say white, which is not true- there are no white people).

Internet- In the Book of Revelation, John's description of Jesus is highly symbolic, emphasizing his divine power and authority

The vision, found in Revelation 1:12-18, portrays Jesus with a robe and golden sash, hair like white wool, eyes like blazing fire, feet like bronze, and a voice like rushing waters. These features symbolize his wisdom, discernment, judgment, and power.

This is regarding the church and how Jesus is going to judge the church. Look at the context, meaning what is before and what comes after these verses. The message was to the seven churches (Revelation 1:3, 1:11, Revelation 1:20).

In chapters two- three; after that, the church will be raptured . Footnotes from Scofield KJV- This seems to clearly indicate the fulfillment of 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17. The word church does not occur again in Revelation until all is fulfilled. This occurs in the last few chapters of Revelation where the church is called the bride of Christ.

The symbolism, and how the prophet Daniel was given the same vision that John was given. This is not a physical description of Jesus, it is symbolism of His attributes.

I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz!  His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms, and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude. And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

Therefore, I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength. Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground (Daniel 10:5-9).

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,  and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;  His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;  He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.  I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death (Revelation 1:12-18).

FYI- Proof that Jesus had a darker complexion- First; He was a Jew (early in Biblical history, they were people of color)- Jesus Christ was from the lineage of Adam whose was created from the earth, ( Adam’s name meant red – David had a ruddy (reddish) complexion (1 Samuel 16:12). When Jesus was a young boy, his parents were told to flee to Egypt because the king was trying to destroy Him. He had to be a person of color to blend with the Egyptians, others they would not have accepted the family.

Although Jesus had to be born a baby of color, when He was an adult, Jesus and His disciples were in a warm climate region and they were exposed to a lot of sun, therefore their complexion probably became even darker.

My point today is not about what complexion today; only when the lie about Jesus’ complexion is spread worldwide. My concern is that people are misinterpreting Jesus’ complexion in the book of Revelation when it is referring to His attributes. I always want the truth to be known, which is BIBLICAL Facts. The most thing is, we should be filled with joy that Jesus is our hearts.
