Minding Your Own Business is a Full Time Job, Stay Employed 9-26-24
Yesterday I posted a message about Bible study and how I have a strong desire to see others grow. From my experience, there have been numerous times when others did not receive from me. Maybe they thought I was dipping in their business.
When it comes to someone’s spiritual growth, the Lord has given me the knowledge to share with those He places in my path to share His Word; and that is my business. Wasn’t Jesus about His Fathers’ business? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49b).
From that introduction, I will continue with today’s message. Someone might be thinking “Why is Betty writing a message like this?” Everything in life has a Biblical connection.
Peter who was considered the impetuous disciple; quick to intervene, ask Jesus questions and so on. Sometimes it got him in trouble.
He got into Jesus’ business and it caused a big problem. From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You! But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men” (Matthew 16:21-23).
In the past people have said to me “You should do this or do that” If the Lord would sent a word to me by someone, it would been a blessing, but sometimes the person who gave me advice was talking from the flesh. How do I know this? We must be able to discern (understand) what is coming from the Lord and what is not.
Peter
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me (John 21:21-22). Paraphrased- Minding your own business is a full time job, stay employed.
Keep doing what you have been called to do and you will not have time to be busy trying to find out what someone else has been called to do.
Song back in the day –
“It takes six months to mind my own business, and six months to leave others’ alone” What God has employed us to do is full time, so let’s be about our Father’s business.
