Embracing a Humble Walk with God 8-24-26

The Humble are Obedient!
He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).
History- This was pertaining to the Israelites and how they had strayed from God. They were trying to find a way to win God’s favor the wrong way by. They were so spiritually ignorant they even proposed offering a human sacrifice to please God. In both the Old and New Testaments, God desired man to have a genuine heartfelt relationship with Him.
Verse eight incorporates two commandments that Jesus said were the most important (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Matthew 22:34-40) [KJV-Key Word Study Bible comments]
God has showed (revealed. explained) to us in His Word how to live (conduct ourselves) a life that is pleasing to Him. The way to please the Lord is to love God and your neighbor as yourself. If any Christian has strayed from the Lord, they cannot get back in fellowship by coming up with their on method of pleasing the Lord; it has to be done His way.
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise (Psalm 51:16-17)
Do Justly- to walk upright (conducting ourselves in a righteous and holy manner).
Love [Agape- unconditional Love; no strings attached] “I’ll do if you do that”
Mercy- This is an action word; it has to be with a kind heart and not for selfish reasons.
Walk Humbly- Learn to do good; seek justice, relieve the oppressed; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow (Isaiah 1:17). Walking humbly means to be obedient to God’s Word. In other words, a humble person is quick to be obedient rather questioning what God tells him or her to do.
Challenge- If you took a test to reveal if you were humble, would you pass the test? The truth is all of us are a piece of work, but God still calls us His masterpieces [workmanship]. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10).
Conclusion- Since we are God’s workmanship [masterpiece], we should conduct ourselves uprightly so God will be glorified.
