Before going into the second part of this message; FYI, many recording artist composed this song; which was often sung at funerals. The saddest part is some of them were pastors! I am continuing with part two of a song that is totally out of Biblical context. Below is the second stanza of the song.
When I get to Heaven I'll sing and shout- there is not anything that says we will sing and shout.
I have no doubt it will be the most amazing thing that ever happened to those who are not ashamed when they are taken to be with the Lord And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming (1 John 2:28). This means to continue to walk in a manner that pleases the Lord.
The Word of God says:
We rest-
Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them (Revelation 14:13).
Nobody will be able to put me out-
This is the most ridiculous statement!
Who can put anyone out of heaven, when it was the Almighty God who caused them to get there?
My mother will be waiting and other loved ones too – Who knows who is going to heaven but the All- Knowing God, who knows everything? On that note, please stop saying where people are.
And we'll join hands and walk around Heaven all day- Ridiculous to say the person and their mother will join hands and walk around heaven all day. Notice the song never mentions the Lord.
Now it is time for the biggie-Heaven’s dimensions
And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs [one eight of a mile]. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.
Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits [approximately eighteen inches long], according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. The construction of its wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
FYI- the city is not paved with gold; it is made of pure gold! Can you image a city that is vast and tall? The saved who understand can because it has been revealed to us in God’s Word.
The Glory of the New Jerusalem
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.
But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 21:15-27).
Saints are resting now (Revelation 14:13), but when it’s all over here on this earth, we will rule and reign with Jesus. And He said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities (Luke 19:17).
