Rick Warren published a book years ago “The Purpose Driven Life,” which was very impacting. When he said it was all about God and not about us, that was quite thought provoking and it took me to another level of seriousness with the Lord.

From that time, I have been learning and understanding more about God’s purpose for my life and to fulfill my destiny. Although I knew about the gifts (assignment) or stewardship when it came to managing what the Lord had entrusted to me, I felt more of an urge to move forward; not only for myself but to encourage others about God’s purpose fore their lives.

God did know create us to get saved and go straight to heaven. He made us a family to serve Him and each other with the awesome abilities (grace), to do His will. Since most people do not go straight to heaven after salvation, what about the middle part? Salvation ? Heaven!

Notice the question mark in between; that makes it incomplete. The in between is our assignment. Sadly, in many churches, God’s people are not taught about their purpose. You hear sermons week after week , but are the principles being taught? Our commission and assignment should have top priority.

If the basic principles are not taught  you are not building on the foundation of Jesus Christ properly, in serving with the gifts God has graced you to minister with.

The proper way to learn what you are commissioned to do in carrying the Gospel effectively and to minister with impact is the directive that is given in God’s Holy Word:

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,  till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—  from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love (Ephesians 4:11-16).

The church has not been building on the foundation properly. Running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
