Jesus, a Prophet? 6-26-25

This message is to answer and questions or apprehensions to Jesus Christ really is. Last week I was blessed with opportunity to have a conversation with two people, an atheist, and a Jew, whose beliefs were totally different than mine.

The discussion was initiated by them asking me about my life. Also, I told them how I learn the language, history, and culture of the people. That’s how they can be identified with. Otherwise, something is missing.

In addition to that, I told them that was the same way with the Bible; I learn the language history and culture of the people, if not one cannot fully understand afterwards I asked them the same question pertaining to their lives. And the question came about their belief which stemmed from me talking about knowing the history, language, and culture of people; that was associated with the Bible.

One answered that all religions have a “Core” belief (the center or whatever it may be), but this was referring to religion. I told them that the difference was that some lean to their own understanding when it comes to God. They may believe that there is a God because He is revealed through creation, but they suppress the truth, meaning they hold back or restrain the truth because they want to believe differently (Romans 1:18). God's invisible attributes were clearly seen in what He created.

During the conversation, the one who used the word “core” stated that she prays to God but believes that Jesus was just a prophet and not the “Messiah” They are still waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue them. Recall: During  Palm Sunday, they were waving palm leaves crying out “Hosanna in the Highest, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matthew 21:9). The following week they cried out “Crucify Him”

What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”(Matthew 27:22-23)

They don’t understand that during the tribulation the Jews (nation of Israel) will be protected when all hell breaks loose. This is because of the promise that God covenant with them from the beginning of them becoming a nation.

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth (Deuteronomy 7:6). This is an amazing connection as to what the church is today: But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

They were expecting Jesus to set up His kingdom and deliver them from being so heavily oppressed by the Romans. There are some Jews who embrace Jesus as their Messiah, they are the Messianic Jews.

Jesus was a prophet; He functioned in all the gifts because He was the only One who had the Spirit without measure. For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure (John 3:34). He was not restricted; therefore, Jesus Christ was greater than a prophet like Mohammad and others. All the other prophets died; the difference in them and Jesus was, Jesus rose from the dead!
