NYC is the place to go!

The Final Experience in NYC

I am sure those who know me have realized that wherever I travel to, I’m trying to get some history. The weird thing is that I did not like History during my school years, but for the last twenty five years, my whole perspective has changed. It is not only fun; it amazes me.

I am picking up our experiences in New York and continuing with taking the bus to Washington Square Park. FYI, NYC is loaded with parks, live entertainment, and it’s free!

When we got to the park it was crowded; there were some graduates in their purple robes taking photos at the beautiful fountain area. As we continued to walk through the park, we came to the area where there was live entertainment. A small Jazz group (love me some Jazz, especially Grover Washington Jr) and a tap dancer.

They were like highly skilled performers and they were drawing attention, even to the point when a young couple stopped and danced; they became part of the entertainment. As we went further into the park, a young man was singing.  It was quite an enjoyable time.

Then two guys showed up from the Nomad Restaurant – a half mile away was giving out free samples of steak, chicken, and vegetarian slices  of a sandwich (Indian style, absolutely delicious); this was their “Grand Opening”

This is the history of Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park is a 9.75-acre (3.95 ha) public park in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City. One of the best known of New York City's public parks, it is an icon as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity.[1] It is operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks).

The park is an open space, dominated by the Washington Square Arch at the northern gateway to the park, with a tradition of celebrating nonconformity. The park's fountain area has long been one of the city's popular spots, and many of the local buildings have at one time served as homes and studios for artists. Many buildings have been built by New York University, while others have been converted from their former uses into academic and residential buildings.

One of the several movies filmed there was “I am Legend” with Will Smith – I loved that movie.

Moving on; we took a bus back to Times Square and decided to eat at BBQ. My diet has changed, and the samples at the park were filling, because my food portions are smaller, I took my food back to Jersey.

Well, that’s it folks; it was time to head back home. My last words for that day- “Ain’t no city like New York City"

However, as magnificent and fascinating the city with skyscrapers is, and it never sleeps, NYC cannot be compared to New Jerusalem! Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:2).
