Unlawfully taking what doesn’t belong to you. In the court of law, it is a crime and whoever is guilty gets punished.
Question- Where does God command His people to bring tithes?
Answer- the storehouse.
Question -What is the storehouse?
Answer- The house of God (church).
“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, in what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field says the Lord of hosts (Malachi 3:8-11).
Breakdown – You read in a previous message that the principle of tithing has not changed. This is what I believe when it comes to the Word of God rightly divided. God commands (tells) us to bring ALL the tithes (not a portion)- He only accepts what His Word says; so, in order to receive the full benefit of God’s blessings, we must be obedient.
Storehouse in today’s language is the church (the house of the Lord).
Caution:
Some say, the church misuse the money, or they are not giving to the preacher. That is the wrong concept. Be obedient to God and He will deal with those who are not being obedient by giving to those in need. Additionally, we are to understand that the pastor is not the head of the church, Jesus is! God told His people which includes those who are robbing Him.
Proof that Jesus is the Head: And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all (Ephesians 1:22-23). And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence [first place] (Colossians 1:18). And not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God (Colossians 2:19).
God wants us, His church to have and abundance so it can help others who are in need. Go said He would open up the windows of heaven; not someone trying to open up their own windows of what they consider blessings. It will only be successful by obeying God’s commands.
When we walk in obedience to God’s Word, His blessings are overwhelming and mind-boggling! I am a living witness and will share my testimony of God’s goodness later in the week.
What does God mean by saying He will rebuke the devourer? The enemy will try to destroy our blessings, but God is greater and He will keep the enemy from stealing our blessings.
What does God mean when He says “You have robbed Me in tithes and OFFERINGS?
Offerings is the next message; a topic within itself. The BIG statement is “You are cursed with a curse for you have robbed Me!
Saints, it may seem as if nothing is happening if you are walking in disobedience, but somehow, someway, and someday, everybody reaps what they sow.
