In following up a few previous messages, we are called to be salt and light, therefore born again believers are told not to do the same thing sinners do.

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16).

What about you being the example of a city sitting on a hill, where everybody is supposed to see your house well lit up? Your house represents your body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Salt is a preservative- I saw this on a MORTON salt box: MORTON IODIZED SALT- This salt supplies iodine, a necessary nutrient. If you don’t have the necessary spiritual nutrients, you cannot benefit the Kingdom. How are you going to influence unsaved people when the proper nutrients are not in your life?

Jesus came to a dark world to make a difference.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:5), and for those of us who are born, we are to follow Christ’s example in all that we do. Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children.

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering, and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

For this you know that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore, do not be partakers with them. For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:1-8).

If you have gotten off track (fallen from grace) and mingling with sinners, doing the same things they are doing, like a prodigal child, God is waiting with open arms to restore you back into fellowship with Him (Luke 15:11-23, 1 John 1:9).

Saints of the Most High God, we are told to walk in the light. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

“If He has to reach way down, Jesus will pick you up”
