Some people in the north compliment many of my outfits, and I tell them they came from Belk. Much of my wardrobe consists of clothes that were purchased from Belk, and several of them are older and classic. Some say I dress “smart” (well dressed). I love the compliments, but God did it; He deserves all the glory, honor, and praises!
The shopping trip- Boscov’s have some of the most fantastic sales of any department store that are known to me. When they have a sale with sixty percent off on certain items, and an extra twenty percent is added on, how could anyone resist purchasing their merchandise?
Especially when the Lord allows you to see something that was a need. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), or even your desire. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:24); He gives favor that is unimaginable! Don’t skip the word DELIGHT, which means you want what God has for you, not something outlandish. Not only that, when the circulars come in the mail for these once a year bargains, also included is door prizes for the first so many people who go into the store. Additionally, free coffee, and samples of food are given; what a blessing!
Back to how I became what many call me “A Smart Dresser”
My early history of dressing the way I do goes back to my teens. My momma worked for a wealthy lady who wore the same size as me, and she gave the clothes to “Momma” and I was the recipient of those blessings. Was I ashamed of hand me downs? Of course not! My clothes were more expensive and prettier than most of my peers, and they certainly stood out from someone who was raised up impoverished. Being dressed in that fashion was instilled in me and it has spilled over all of my life.
The downside of this story is: the expensive clothes that I wore were instilled and it caused big problems later on in life. That was a deeply embedded root for sure! I was head over heels in debt with the creditors. But, one day I was delivered from that and learned how to be a good steward over what the Lord entrusted to me. From that experience not just a smart dressed rising senior; I’m also a smart shopper! I shop for bargains and it is incredible what God does!!!
Not only that; the Lord uses others to bless me. I have been blessed with so many pocketbooks and many other things that there is not enough space in my apartment to contain them. That is OVERFLOW- Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10). This happens when we walk in obedience to God.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33). And my ministry is blessed!
Praise be to the Lord God Almighty that my credit score is EXCELLENT!
Moral of my story/testimony- to all of you younger generation ladies who admired the way I dressed, including Jeanne and Ardell, now you know that only God could have done it, and He is still doing it! I am not just a smart dressed rising senior; I’m also a smart shopper! I shop for bargains and it is incredible how the Lord puts some desires and all my needs right in my path.
Hallelujah! My GOD is Awesome!
