This is also of utmost importance- If the right words are not used in naming the gifts, it will change the entire meaning. All four books have used the same words when it came to naming these gifts.
Wisdom is not the name of a gift; it is the Word of wisdom- Most people have some kind of wisdom, but the word of Wisdom is a special grace to point people in the right direction and in their decision making, give the right advice (1 Corinthians 12:8).
Word of knowledge – It is the same with knowledge, which is not a gift. Again, as with wisdom, most people have some kind, even it is worldly - For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God (1 Corinthians 3:19a). The person operating in the Word of knowledge has unlearned knowledge about somebody’s situation. He or she tells someone what is going on in their life; the person knew that the one functioning in the gift had no knowledge of what was happening. This is why the gift can’t be knowledge; it a supernatural endowment that can only come through thee Spirit of God, as with all the gifts of the Spirit.
Summation-
First of all, one can only function in the gifts given by the Spirit as He wills it to be; they are not permanent gifts like the ones in in Ephesians and Romans. They are used in and through any Christian that the Spirit chooses to empower for a particular service at any given time.
But earnestly [covet] desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way (1 Corinthians 12:31). This is what I was taught, and it is the same thing that is in the footnotes from the KJV- Key Word Study Bible: the “best gifts’ mentioned here refer to those which are most useful.
The Corinthian believers were desiring the gifts that would bring them the most acclaim And prestige among their fellow brothers in Christ; that is, the gift of tongues, prophecies, and the Word of knowledge instead. Paul urged them to “covet” (earnestly desire) that would best benefit the cause of Christ, not themselves. In chapter thirteen, Paul further explains that the gifts must be done in love for Christ, not for self.
All these things (gifts) will fade away, but LOVE is the greatest of all. I have seen people operating in the vocal gifts, and it appears that they get recognized, and it appears to some that they are more mature. But that is not true, the truth of the matter is if they are not operating in love, they are not mature.

We are gifted to serve and encourage each other.
