The Consequence of Not Forgiving Others 10-7-26
Updated: 3 days ago
Unforgivers are miserable; they have no peace.
Yesterday I touched on a situation about generational curses and how sickness was no longer a part of the curse or a result of sin. Thank be to the Lord God Almighty for delivering us from the law of sin and death- Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:13-14).
There are two scriptures that will be used, one from the old covenant. Why am I saying that Matthew 6: was under the old covenant? Before Jesus died and was raised from the dead, everything was still under the Old Testament. Jesus resurrection brought in a new and better covenant. Example: a will does not become effective until the person who owns the will dies.
Testator: Owner of a will- For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Therefore, not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood.
For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.” Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission [forgiveness] (Hebrews 10:16-22).
No one could experience complete forgiveness in the Old Testament; like everything else it was necessary for Christ to die and rise from the death in order to have complete forgiveness.
Old covenant:
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:15).
New and better covenant –
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). This is one that we should really pay close attention to. I try my best to be in right standings with God first and foremost, and being in right standing with my brothers and sisters is also a high priority.
I have made attempts to get things right with certain people and they still have not accepted my effort in being in fellowship with them. That indicates that the person is still holding unforgiveness in their hearts. This is what the Word of God says:
Unforgiveness breaks fellowship with God and others; it is a sin. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear (Psalm 66:18). God hears everything, but He turns His ear because of unforgiveness. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? (1 John 4:20).
It can also cause other problems; if you are harboring ill feelings against someone it causes misery which results in health issues. It is even more dangerous to take communion when there is broken fellowship (1 Corinthians 11:23-34).
Brothers and sisters, please take heed to this message and do all you can to be kind to all, forgive all, and then you will love all! Otherwise there is no peace; just misery!
