Life is valuable, make good use of it.
Yesterday Burnett Ministries celebrated the memory of our teacher, Albert E. Burke. Included in the message was there are no “Heavenly Birthdays.” I had a desire to write about this for years and the Lord used what was commemorated on yesterday to make it happen.
The Word of God is full proof, that man’s days are numbered. First of all, the number of years of the human lifespan began to reduce after the angels left their first estate, came to the earth had sex with the daughters of men – that was an atrocious (wicked) act.
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”(Genesis 6:1-3). Genesis 6 and Psalm 90 should clear up any controversy and bring clarity. We know that the Word of God is not contradictory, so let’s find out what Psalm 90 means. Think about the prayer; when Moses wrote it: The Psalm refers to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness for forty years because of their unbelief.
Death Sentence on the Rebels – Please read Numbers, chapter 14. And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.
Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. But your little ones, whom you said would be victims, I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised.
But as for you, your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness. And your sons shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty years, and bear the brunt of your infidelity, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness. According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection.
They kept dying out; their lifespan was between sixty and eighty years, but we know that was not the 120 year lifespan that God said man could live, and we know that three score and ten, if by reason of strength (between 60 and 80 years), their lives were shortened because their unbelief.
It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea (Deuteronomy 1:2). They could have made it to the promise land in eleven days.
Just like the Israelites, somebody is not receiving what the Word of God says, and they are missing their blessing by wandering in the wilderness because of ignorance. Example: the message on yesterday was pertaining to: “Heavenly Birthdays;” and when the truth was written, some people wished Albert a “Heavenly Birthday”- That’s pitiful!
For whom, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So, we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief (Hebrews 3:16-19).
