Time still marches on.
In continuing to write stories/testimonies of people the Lord ordained for me to have a great bond with this group of men who was a great influence and support in my life and of course it was reciprocal.
The True Tones consisted of men from different churches who came together as one unit to glorify the Lord in songs and praises. I had been friends with these brothers in Christ approximately twenty five years; all are deceased except one of the brothers whom I reconnected with on Facebook
.
Many times, my mother’s group, the Wells Singers would be on the same program with the True Tones. So, I went to support both groups. I was a part of this group indirectly, which included writing a few of their songs and they also performed in a couple of my plays. Thank the Lord for Brother Robert Dubose agreeing with me for some of their story to be told.
I felt so honored that the late brothers James “Coote” Morrison and Paul Mitchell asked me to write a few songs for the group-
“The Great Commission”
“He’s My Rock”
“Jesus, You’re My Shining Star”
Although these men started in 2000, over the years, one after the other passed on. The only original “True Tones” is Brother Robert Dubose and of course his greatest supporter and influence who stood by her husband and the entire group along with their wives.
My story about you may not be a long one but the weight it carries far exceed and surpasses some long messages. Little means much when it is done with sincerity. When I remember the album “Time Will Tell” and all those wonderful songs that the Lord ordained to be written, sung, and published they bring “Joy” to my heart!”
Brother Dubose, I certainly believe you are true to the call and sincere at heart. Being one of my readers and encouragers on Facebook means a lot to me. Your comments motivate me to keep moving onward. I am grateful to your lovely wife, Sister Marveta who also fully supported me and was joyfully involved in some plays the Lord allowed me present at St. Paul.
Although I have relocated to New Jersey, we are still connected. Memories of how I was connected with the “True Tones” are unforgettable. Brother Dubose, with you being the only one left of the original True Tones, I’m sure you are keeping the torch “aflame” (alive) in your heart!
Brother Dubose, thanks again for your permission to write and post these wonderful memories of the “True Tones”
Charles Stanley said (paraphrased) “We should tell of God’s goodness, it encourages and strengthen them which motivates people to share one or however many of their stories.”
