This beautiful senior has been attending the Center from its onset in August 2024. Thursday, while talking to everybody, someone mentioned that her birthday was going to be Friday, the 21st (the next day). I asked her why she didn’t say something and she didn’t want to mention that her birthday would be the next day, and she just kept quiet about it.

At the center birthdays are usually recognized with cake and a song. I told her I was going to tell the manager and that’s what happened. A “Happy Birthday” was sung to her and then one of the managers sang a special song to her.
To me that was the cake (healthier and encouraging).
Then the other manager turned on the TV to Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” song. Did she ever get a kick out of it! Our birthday girl stood in front of the TV and enjoyed the birthday to the max.

What to take away for Vera’s not planned birthday recognition- Sometimes coming up with something out of the blue (improvising) can be better than the real deal. Most of all to see how the outpouring of LOVE from the seniors bring JOY! To Vera!
To all you wonderful seniors, thanks for making Vera’s special day an enjoyable one!!!
From all of us Seniors at Lindenwold Senior Center, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to Vera!!!
