Tithing is a Command From God 11-3-25

If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15)
As I walk through this series, my prayer is for the people of God will study to show (dig deeper into the Word). Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15) ). That goes for leaders and those who are following them.
There has been some controversy when it comes to “tithes” over the years some people say that tithes are not for today because it was an Old Testament command (bring, or you bring) in Malachi 3:8-10. They will say that that we are no longer under the law, but under grace. The principle of tithing started before the law. Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek, a priest/king of Salem in the Old Testament who was a type of Christ.
Yet the principle of sowing and reaping has been since the beginning of time when God told Adam: Then God blessed them, and God said to them, be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth (Genesis 1:28). I plan to get to sowing and reaping which is a part of this series.
Melchizedek was a man who was a temporary priest/king, pointing to Christ, but Christ is the eternal King which is more superior than an earthly priest/king. Somebody needs to study and connect scriptures that support and relate to each other. God’s principle works in the Old and New Testaments. There would not be a new without the old.
The connection about Christ and Melchizedek is mentioned in two Old Testament scriptures: Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High (Genesis 14:18). Melchizedek is mentioned in Psalm 110:4 - The Lord has sworn and will not relent [change], “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”
On to a couple chapters in Hebrews: “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek” though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing (Hebrews 5:7, 9-11).
The church has become dull of hearing, and what is more dangerous, some people are saying that tithes is not for today. The writer is saying that you are not being obedient to what God has commanded us to do. And there are those teaching such erroneous doctrine that they need to go back and learn the first principles of the God’s Word (Hebrews 5:12-14).
Although all scriptures are important, the ones about Melchizedek and Christ are mentioned multiple times. GOD is trying to tell us something! My brothers and sisters, knowledge is of great importance, but understanding is even greater- Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7).
