Understanding the Holy Spirit's Crucial Role in Salvation 4-16-26

This is to bring clarity to Acts 4:12. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

The Holy Spirit is the One who baptizes (brings) us into Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).

God raised Jesus from the dead: that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

God and the Spirit are the same! But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:11).

Here you see the Trinity at work in Jesus’ resurrection. The Triune God – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit always work together – Jesus didn’t do anything unless the Father told Him (John 12:49), and it was the Holy Spirit’s power that enabled Him. The Three never act independently of each other. That’s why one needs to connect all the dots, put the pieces of puzzles in the right place, or they won’t fit. Scriptures never stand alone; they connect relate and support the other.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:  If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,  let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

This is the ‘stone, which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:8-12).

Paul also encountered some disciples and asked them if they received the Holy Spirit when they believed. Their response reveals a lack of awareness about the Holy Spirit, stating, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit" (Acts 19:12). They too were followers of John.

John himself said:  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, [not salvation] but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11).

The stand alone scripture in Acts 4:12 is misunderstood because it is used totally out of context by some people. PLEASE READ! These people were disciples of John and the reason they had not heard of and  received the Holy Spirit, because He did not live in people until Jesus rose from the dead; that’s when people became born again from our perspective.

That’s the reason it was told to them: Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ [not John’s baptism] for the remission [forgiveness] of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

If the Spirit of God had not raised Jesus from the dead, all of us would be miserable and our faith would be in vain (1 Corinthians 15:12-19).

No one can have or be in relationship with Jesus without having the Holy Spirit, and no one can have the Holy Spirit and not have Jesus. Proper teaching and understanding are essential for spiritual growth and empowerment.
