Seek the Lord and He will answer.
While watching a sermon from Charles Stanley recently, the message provoked me to evaluate how I am functioning in my call. I have no doubt about the gifts that have been given to me. The point was and is, how am I functioning in my gifts.
Charles Stanley was teaching about people who are not walking in their call, and those who don’t know what their call is. This is crucial to receiving eternal rewards.
Some people listen to what others say, instead of seeking the Lord, This is the scripture that was used: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye (Psalm 32:8).
Two things are very crucial-
1) Be still and listen (Psalm 46:1).
2) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil (Proverbs 3:5-7).
This means to respect the Lord and the only way to hear from Him is to be in tune and listen intently. This can only happen if we’re in God’s will. Trusting God wholeheartedly will result in knowing His purpose for your life.
God is the main One to reveal His purpose for His children, through His Word; the Holy Spirit is very instrumental in helping us; the five ministry office gifts (Ephesians 4:11-16) have been graced to help people know what their gifts are. God can reveal through circumstances; he can use a billboard, or any other means He deems necessary for us to know our assignment is.
Another crucial element is repentance for not seeking the Lord and for functioning in a call that the Lord didn’t give you. Consequences – works will be burned, even though you are saved, the works are not based on salvation. However, your service to the Lord and to others with the grace (ability) that has been given to you determines your rewards.
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day (Judgment Day) will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).
