Warning!!! False Teaching (Part 1) 5-15-25

In the past few months, several people shared their concerns about a group of people who has them confused on their doctrinal beliefs. I do not consider myself an authority on everything, however, part of my function as evangelist is to expose false teachings so the people of God will not be swayed with every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:11-16), so they will he or she will not be double-minded, and unstable in all his ways (James 1:8).

This is one of those that keeps coming up.

There is a religious movement that believes in one God but rejects the traditional Trinitarian view of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, instead seeing Jesus as the one God who came in the flesh to identify with humanity, and the Holy Spirit being the power behind everything. They also say you must speak in tongues in order to be born again.

Let’s see what the Word of God says:

God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit make up the Godhead- this is the divine order of the Godhead- God initiated everything- He said, “Let Us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26). Jesus Christ carried out God the Father’s plan of salvation; He did the Father will. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing but should raise it up at the last day.

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:39-40). God the Spirit is the power in everything – He baptizes people into the body of Christ (new birth). The Holy Spirit is here on earth to live in us (1 Corinthians 6:19), and to empower us if we let Him (Acts 2:8).

Note: this is the divine order, yet the entire Bible is about Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation.

Order – Three baptisms: 1) Salvation (2 and 3) Water baptism and baptized with the Holy Spirit there is not a specific order, either water baptism or baptism with the Holy Spirit, which is evidenced by speaking in tongues.

1) Salvation is by grace alone and not works; it is the gift of God, who placed the faith in us to respond (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus said, “You must be born again by the Spirit of God” (John 3:8). It is the Spirit that baptizes us into Christ, which means new birth, not speaking in tongues. Suppose you went out witnessing someone, would you start speaking to them in a gibberish language to tell that’s how they get saved? That is absolutely absurd!

Example that Salvation is by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Did the thief on the cross come down and get water baptized? Did he speak in unknown tongues? Of course he didn’t.  Then one of the criminals who was hanged blasphemed Him, saying,  “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”  Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom. “And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”(Luke 23:39-43)
