After the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, on Thursday night, and after praying with the intercessory prayer partners, this came to mind through the Spirit, of course. I felt this prompting to write about things that will occur during eternity. Through the years I have been asked questions about what will take place in eternity, and from what they heard, heaven will be boring.

That is absurd, especially when God had given us all things pertaining to this life to enjoy. As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:3-4). If we have escaped the corruption that is in this world, how much greater do you think it is going to be in the future?

Some people have written songs about “Walk Around Heaven” all day.” This is so erroneous! How could anyone walk around heaven all day-

The New Jerusalem- Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,  having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.  Also, she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel…..

The Glory of the New Jerusalem -  But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.  The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it (Revelation 21:9-23).

We have assignments to rule and reign with Jesus. Whatever were faithful in on earth we will have rulership in heaven, which will include anything that God called us to do in this life. It has a great bearing on what we will be doing throughout eternity. For instance, many football players or any other sports who are on a team here on earth was not by accident. God calls His children to do great things in every area of our lives.

Now to the main point: Did you know that games, sports and so on were a part of the Jewish customs? Didn’t Paul write much about running the race? Therefore, I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus, I fight not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:26-27).

Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). Weren’t there sports arenas in ancient times? I was blessed to see one of the ancient areas when the Lord allowed me to travel to Europe with others.

Everything that God planned from the beginning of human history will be restored in it’s purest form. That’s why the Word of God says; a new heaven and a new earth; all things will be made new. Satan only interrupted God’s plan, but he couldn’t stop it, praise God for making all things new! Hallelujah!

Enjoy sports, games (the clean ones), and anything else pertaining to this life, but enjoy Jesus more.
