Do all to the Glory of God (Part 1) 8-25-26
Is Your Belly Your god?
This has been posted before but in a different way. The reason for repeats is because Jesus did reemphasized in His teachings. Some of the writes of the Bible wrote similarly and one didn’t know what the other wrote. It’s the same in this day and time; people are presenting the same message, yet the method is different.
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). How do we glorify God? These are some of the ways I am posting today. It takes a humble person to glorify God in all the ways we are told, no excuses for not doing all to glorify God.
Eat – The proper foods help us to have better health. Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (1 Timothy 4:1-5).
However, if one has a health issue such as hypertension, do not think you can eat whatever you want and the food is blessed. That is tempting God! Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed (James 1:13-14).
Additionally, one can over eat and cause bigger health problems, and that certainly is not glorifying God. Gluttony (greedy) can also become an addiction. It is also connected to disobedience. Being that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, we have no right to abuse it. The focus is on gratifying the flesh, rather than spiritual fulfillment.
Drink – For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore, He says: Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
See then that you walk circumspectly,[Strong's Greek: 199. ἀκριβῶς (akribós) -- exactly, accurately ... not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time [making good use of your time], because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be unwise but understand what the will of the Lord is.
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; [The New Testament treats ἀσωτία not merely as a social ill but as a spiritual disease, urging believers to forsake such dissipation and embrace a life ruled by the Spirit, marked by sobriety, but be filled with
the Spirit]- Strong's Concordance (Ephesians 5:8-17).
I hear people say and sing “To God be the glory for all the things He has done” It’s great to say that, but what is being done to glorify Him for what He’s doing? For instance, are we doing everything possible to glorify Him?
We owe everything to God, therefore whether we eat, drink or whatever we do it is to glorify God.
